The Factors Related To Occupational Diseases In Fishermen In The Coastal Area Of Pakarena Hall, Kairatu Village
Abstract
This study highlights fishermen as a community group reliant on marine products through fishing or cultivation, with one of their primary challenges being occupational diseases. These diseases are influenced by various risk factors, including work tools, materials, environmental conditions, and the work process itself.HThe aim of this study is to examine the factors associated with occupational diseases among fishermen in Pakarena Hamlet, Kairatu Village. Usingha cross-sectional design, the study involved a total population of 50 participants, employing a total sampling technique. The findings revealed a significant relationship between age and occupational diseases (p = 0.05) and betweenHyears of service and occupational diseases (p = 0.018). However, no significant correlation was found between knowledge level and occupational diseases (p = 0.767). Furthermore,hthe use of personal protective equipment (PPE) showed a significant associationhwith occupational diseases (p = 0.054) In conclusion, age, length of service, and PPE usage are significantly linked to occupational diseases among fishermen in Pakarena Hamlet, Kairatu Village.
